Melbourne Area 2-Day Vacation Guide


From a historic downtown to miles of public beaches to world-class entertainment you'll find it all here! The most popular stat park in Florida, Sebastian Inlet, is a surfer's paradise and one of the easiest access points for anglers. Shoppers can get their fix at Melbourne Square Mall, historic downtown or The Avenue at Viera.

Day 1 Vacation Activities

Crocodiles, vultures, and cougars oh my!  As you walk through one of the area's most popular attractions, the Brevard Zoo, you'll think you're no longer on the Space Coast as you travel through natural habitats homogeneous to Latin America and Australia.  Get up close and personal with over 500 of the zoo's wild residents, including giant anteaters, giraffes, alligators, kangaroos, bald eagles, exotic birds and more.  Once you've had your fill of the outback, it's time to start your engines at Andretti Thrill Park.  Quench your need for speed on the Andretti Challenge, a European style Go Kart track where speeds can reach 40mph!  If that's too fast for your, try out their bumper boats, take a swing in their batting cages, improve your swing on their 18-hole mini pro-golf course, or improve your score in the county's larges game room.  Have time for a pit stop? Well pull on into Mustard's Last Stand.  Voted "Best Hot Dogs" in Brevard County 2004, Mustard's Last Stand is a Brevard county favorite serving up Chicago style hot dogs for more than 20 years.

Immerse yourself into the local scene or even pop in for class at the Brevard Art Museum.  Located in Old Eau Gallie, The Brevard Art Museum is the focal point of an ever-expanding artistic and cultural center featuring exhibitions by internationally and nationally known artists as well as florida artists representing a variety of styles, periods and media.  Continue your cultural journey with a visit to the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum, where you will have an opportunity to ring an authentic full-size replica of the original Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and browse through artifacts spanning 300 years of US and local history.  Need to unwind from a day filled with wildlife, racing , arts and history? Unwind by taking a stroll through Florida Tech's Botanical Gardens.  Comprised of over thirty acres of lush subtropical growth and natural streams, Florida Tech botanical Gardens provides a tranquil setting featuring an extensive palm/hardwood hammock to unwind and numerous Seminole-style chikis that provide places to rest and contemplate the exotic plant species, and offer protection from summer sun showers.  Dine tonight at city Tropics.  City Tropics Bistro offers a robust menu of specialty dishes from brick oven pizza, fresh seafood and sushi.  All with a Caribbean twist!

Day 2 Vacation Activities

Just what the doctor ordered!  Doc Holiday's Horse Ranch, Inc.  Happy trails to you as you leave behind all the fumes and traffic and set out on horseback as you explore one of  many trails on the 750 acre nature preserve.  When you're ready to mosey on in for a bite of lunch, head over to Big Island Burritos.  Indialantic's newest Mexican restaurant, Big Island Burritos features everything from nachos to tacos.  There's sure to be something to please even the pickiest of eaters.

Next, visit the McLarty Treasure Museum & Sebastian Fishing Museum. Situated on a survivors' camp of the ill-fated 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet, the McLarty Treasure Museum features artifacts, displays and an observation deck that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.  The Sebastian fishing Museum relays the rich history of Sebastian and the local Indian river Lagoon fishing industry through pictures, video presentations, fishing gear, homemade commercial fishing boat and replicas of a commercial fish house and dock.  Dine tonight at Island Pasta Company.  Located in Historic Downtown Melbourne. Island Pasta is a little piece of island flair and healthy fare. You'll enjoy fresh pasta and specialty dishes that make you feel like you're in the Islands.
